Despite the graduation of several talented seniors, the 2024 Bearcats maintained Monroe’s dominance within the WESCO 3A conference. A new crop of seniors carried the torch on both sides of the football as the offense and defense remained potent. The Bearcats rushed out to another 5-0 mark to begin the season as Monroe overpowered their opponents. On offense, Logan Manson took over at QB and performed well. Aaron Clifton led the team in rushing yards and while Mason Davis emerged as the top receiver. Clifton and Davis formed a formidable duo as the two were both capable rushers and receivers, racking up over 1,000 all-purpose yards each. On defense, Ireland Guthrie led the team in tackles while Brennan Sheppard earned nine sacks. The undefeated Bearcats suffered their first loss to a talented Camas squad but remained undaunted. Monroe won the rest of their games and met Oak Harbor in the WESCO 3A Championship game. In a thrilling shootout, the Bearcats outlasted the Wildcats in overtime, clinching their first conference title since 2021. Monroe overcame Bellarmine in another high-scoring affair as the team faced Eastside Catholic in the State Playoffs. The Crusaders silenced the Bearcats as Monroe fell in the First Round again. Nevertheless, 2024 was Monroe’s third straight nine-win season, a remarkable achievement for Coach Darrow and his players.
