The 1918 Bearcats season is notable not for what occurred on the field, but off the field. The season began as usual, with a game at Sultan as the Bearcats defeated their rival 30-7. This would the first and last game played that season as the Spanish Flu was spreading quickly in Seattle and outbreaks were beginning to occur in towns close to Monroe such as Gold Bar and Sultan. As a precaution, the city council ordered that all public places where people gather were to be closed indefinitely, canceling the rest of football season.
