Despite being under the leadership of a new coach, the Bearcats once again struggled greatly in their 1943 campaign. The season began with some potential as the ‘Cats defeated Mount Vernon in a close matchup and followed up with a 27-0 rout of against Stanwood. This would be the peak of the season as Monroe fell apart the rest of the year. The offense was the primary reason for this as the Bearcats were shutout in four of their last six games. After going 2-0, the ‘Cats lost five and tied once, ending the season with a loss at Sultan. After one season with Monroe, Coach Zile departed and Chip Chatterson took over the next year.
