After the departure of Stan Bates, Monroe had spent two seasons struggling to renew its success. In Coach Chatterson’s first season under the helm, the Bearcats posted a modest 4-4 mark, showing the program was improving after a couple years of struggle. The ‘Cats were mostly inconsistent, showing promise in some weeks and looked helpless in others. The season started out rough as Issaquah and Marysville dominated the team but the Bearcats followed these losses by handling the Everett 2nd team and Arlington. The Bearcats would lose another two games against Edmonds and Snohomish before winning the last two against Stanwood and Sultan to close out a decent season.
