Coming off a season where they triumphed as Tri-County Champions, the 1957 Bearcats had high expectations coming into the year. The start of the campaign did the team no favors as the Bearcats opened with a game at Vancouver College in Canada where they predictably fell 47-0 to open the season. The majority of the season would be hit or miss as Monroe alternated between wins and losses as they were 3-4 with only three games left. Despite title hopes being long gone, the ‘Cats showed no signs of quit as they won their last three games. The 1957 squad possessed an average defense but it was the offense that powered the team. A loaded running back core was the strength of the team as the ‘Cats averaged 20 points a game. Capping the year with a 52-13 drubbing of Sultan, Monroe finished with a respectable 6-4 record.
