🡐 1972 Season 1970 Season 🡒

The first season for Ed Lucero would test the new coach as the Bearcats declined greatly from the 1970 campaign. While the offense was still able to put up a decent amount of points, the defense was woefully ineffective the entire year. Most of the losses suffered were complete blowouts as teams ran over the ‘Cats all season such as games against Anacortes and Mount Vernon where both teams dropped over 50 points each. The only victory came against the newly created Pilchuck High team as the ‘Cats also barely missed upsetting Lake Stevens. In the last game of the season the Bearcats suffered their worst defeat of the season and one of their worst losses in program history, a 74-7 drubbing by the league champions Burlington-Edison.
