The 2018 Bearcats season was marked by departures of veteran players as a young core struggled replicate the same success of previous teams. Despite the regression, the team still showed some promise in wins against Jackson and Cascade as elements of a their strong offensive attack and defense could still be seen. Led by Juniors such as QB Gio Fregoso and WR Efton Chism, the team showed a great deal of potential in the future as pieces for success were still there. The young ‘Cats showed grit and determination as they rallied from an 0-3 start and went 4-2 the rest of the year. This allowed Monroe play for a spot in the state tournament where they fell to Graham-Kapowsin 59-20 in the qualifying round.
