The 2017 Bearcats season is considered to be one of the finest in school history as the team set records for most points scored and most wins in a single season, punctuated by dramatic victories against Mount Si and Puyallup in the state playoffs. A potent offense, led by seniors such as QB Jayden Prewitt and RB Isaiah Lewis, was matched by a voracious defense that dominated the rest of the WESCO 4A conference. For the second year in a row, the lone regular season loss came against Lake Stevens, costing the Bearcats a chance at a conference title. In the qualifying playoff round, the Bearcats were down 40-37 against Mount Si with less than two minutes left before forcing a fumble. After driving 77 yard to score the go-ahead touchdown with 17 seconds left, the Bearcats held out to win in improbable fashion. In the first playoff round, the Bearcats defeated Puyallup in a close game to capture the teams first ever state playoff victory as they advanced to rematch against Sumner. The magical season would be ended once again at the hands of Sumner in the second round as the team finished at a school record 10-2.
