After a disappointing 4-6 record in 2018, the Bearcats started the 2019 season with a chip on their shoulders and aspirations of returning to the playoffs. Led by a cast of seniors such as QB Gio Fregoso, WR Efton Chism III, RB Blake Rybar, and WR JR Little, Monroe brought back a wealth of talent and leadership for the season. The first three games would test the team as they faced three perennial powerhouses programs to start off the season. In the first home game against Eastlake, the Bearcats won a 42-41 thriller in overtime but the game would be taken off the record. A player for Monroe was ineligible due to an error in paperwork and the team was forced to forfeit the victory. Nevertheless, the Bearcats moved on to play against Woodinville and dropped a close fought game before traveling to Lake Stevens. The match began with an explosive offensive performance by both teams before the Vikings pulled away, crushing Monroe 73-28. Undaunted, the Bearcats proceeded to rout the rest of their Wesco opponents, scoring more than 50 points in four of their last six regular season games to finish second in the conference. In the qualifying round, Monroe matched up at home with Mount Si in a rematch of their 2017 thriller. The game was evenly matched but eventually Mount Si pulled away, ending the Bearcats season. In the offseason, Coach Michael Bumpus stepped down from the program, ending one of the most successful coaching eras in Monroe history.
