The 2022 Monroe Bearcats broke out with one of the most dominant seasons since 2017 and firmly established themselves as one of the best teams in the WESCO South District. The Bearcats showed no hesitation at the start of the season as they simply overpowered their first six opponents with ease. QB Blake Springer continued to grow into a star at the position during his Junior year, showing off remarkable talent and drawing the attention of college scouts. After rushing for over 546 yards the previous season, Senior Kody Edelbrock showed off his versatile skill set as he racked up 552 receiving years during the 2023 campaign. However, the emergence of Sophomore Beau Pruitt catapulted the Bearcats offense. Pruitt played both WR and RB at elite levels, leading the team with 834 rushing yards and 557 receiving yards. Monroe’s high-powered offense guided the team to an undefeated regular season and the WESCO South title after a 49-7 rout of Snohomish. Hosting the WESCO 3A Championship match at home, the Bearcats faltered and lost in a close game to Ferndale. The defeat stung but did not dampen Monroe’s spirits, as the Bearcats soundly defeated Liberty in the Qualifying Round of the State Playoffs. As Monroe returned to the State Playoffs for the first time since 2017, they faced a powerful Lincoln team in the First Round. The Bearcats could not hold off the Abe’s offensive barrage and fell 49-16 to end the season.
