After narrowly missing the county title the year before, the 1916 Bearcats came back with a vengeance in their campaign. Despite being incomplete, there is a great deal of evidence that shows the season was a massive success. Monroe featured a powerful defense that shut down their opponents all season long, posting at least three shutouts in five games. The Bearcats won their first four games, including two wins against Snohomish, and went on the capture the county championship that season. A game against Everett would be the final game of the year but the outcome was never reported in the local newspaper.
