The 1923 Bearcats season is fragmentary but what is known about the season indicates it was still a success for the program. Only five games were recorded and this seems too few for the era. In any case, the Bearcats started the season 2-0 after defeating Stanwood and Granite Falls by very slim margins in both games. The next game against Lake Stevens would be one of the greatest in team history and in the long rivalry with the Vikings. The Bearcats utterly destroyed Lake Stevens by an unbelievable 80-0 score, the largest margin of victory in the rivalry and in Monroe history. Unfortunately for the Bearcats, they could not repeat the same results the rest of the season as they fell to Sultan and Marysville to finish the season.
