A year removed from a county championship and under a new head coach, no one was sure what to expect from the Bearcats in 1926. The season started out with a victory against North Bend 33-0. The game would be called off at the half because the North Bend players were sick from exhaust fumes inhaled during the trip to Monroe. Nevertheless, an important matchup at Snohomish took place the next week and the Bearcats fought their old rival to a 6-6 tie. The ‘Cats would go on to dominate the rest of their opponents, including defeating a strong Marysville team for the first time in years. After beating Edmonds, the undefeated Bearcats accepted a rematch against the also unbeaten Snohomish squad for the county championship. In front of the home fans, Monroe vanquished their old foe 27-7 to capture the county title and secure an undefeated record in one of the best seasons in Bearcat football history.
