Taking over after Coach Chatterson, the new young coach Jake Donnelly had a lot of questions to answer. Despite posting a similar record as the year before, Coach Donnelly and the Bearcats had a respectable season in 1946. The ‘Cats displayed elements of a potent offense and defense but both were very inconsistent throughout the season. This inconsistency led to the Bearcats between alternating between wins and losses, being unable to put together a solid winning streak. The ‘Cats looked solid in wins against Issaquah and Coupeville but couldn’t match Marysville or Snohomish in their games. The season ended with a typical win against Sultan as Monroe finished with a 4-3-1 record, a promising start to Coach Donnelly’s time with the Bearcats.
