After posting a decent first season under the helm, Coach Donnelly and the Bearcats looked to take a step forward in their 1947 campaign. The season started in the right direction with a win against Granite Falls but followed with a loss against rival Snohomish. Coming after a win against Sultan and a tie against a strong Oak Harbor team, the ‘Cats were 2-1-1 and no one knew what to expect of the team. After pulling off a close win against Langley, the Bearcats transformed into an unbeatable force the rest of the season. Talent and a good bit of luck helped the ‘Cats edge out opponents in tight games and they capped off the year with a 33-0 rout of Darrington. The Bearcats had won five in a row to finish with an outstanding 7-1-1 record, one of their best seasons in recent memory. Following the season, Coach Donnelly left the program and Morrie Hahn took over as head coach.
