Coach John Stahl would be one of Monroe’s finest coaches but in his first season, there would be some growing pains. In the first half of the season, the Bearcats struggled mightily as the offense was nonexistent and the defense looked inconsistent at best. After a tie game against Concrete, the ‘Cats seemed have flipped a switch. The Bearcats edged out Sultan in a close 13-12 victory and went on to win out the rest of the year. Both the offense and the defense played outstanding football as Monroe rode a four game winning streak to finish 5-2-1. It was a respectable start to Coach Stahls tenure at Monroe and an indication of things to come.
