The first year under new coach Steve Hanson would have the Bearcats trending in the right direction as the team finished the year with a respectable 5-4 record. While it was apparent that the ‘Cats possessed talent and could compete against any team, they were never able to translate that talent into a long winning streak. Monroe’s best asset was a powerful offense and while the defense looked strong at times, its inconsistency cost the team in certain games. Finishing the season with a win against Sultan, it was clear that the Bearcats led by Coach Hanson would only continue to improve.
