After a slight drop the year before, the 1968 Bearcats once again finished with a 7-2 season. The ‘Cats looked to be firing on all cylinders at the start of the season, defeating Lake Stevens and three other squads to stand with a 4-0 mark. Just as it seemed Monroe had a shot at a conference title, the Bearcats fell to Mount Baker in a close game. Defeated, but not out of the title race, the ‘Cats rebounded against Tolt but had their hopes permanently dashed when they were crushed by a strong Langley team. With their title hopes gone, the Bearcats still finished the season on a high note by defeating Sultan and Stanwood to close out a successful, albeit slightly disappointing season.
