The first year under Coach Rollin Wilson was one that was marked by inconsistency by the Bearcats. Monroe started out 1-2, the win against Anacortes being between blowout losses from Lake Stevens and Burlington-Edison by scores of 36-0 and 56-6, respectively. After the loss to Burlington, the Bearcats won their next four games as the defense led the charge. The offense stepped up as well, helping capture a victory in a 41-33 slugfest over Sedro-Woolley. Despite standing at 5-2, Monroe couldn’t close out the season on a high note as losses to Bellingham and Mount Vernon put the record at a mediocre 5-4.
