The 1997 season was a forgettable one for the Bearcats as they only slightly improved over the 1996 campaign. Monroe opened the season with a 8-6 victory over Bellingham but followed the win with two close losses to Burlington-Edison and Eastside Catholic. The ‘Cats followed this start with alternating wins and losses for the remainder of the season, winning their last two games against rival Lake Stevens and Jackson.
