After going winless in two straight seasons, Coach Haynie and the Bearcats began moving the program in the right direction in 2003. The first win since the 2000 season came in the first week as the Bearcats narrowly defeated Cedarcrest but the remainder of the season showed that the team still had a long way to go before they could compete in the WESCO 4A. Wins against Cascade and Mount Vernon added to the win count in another rebuilding year for Monroe.
