The 2013 season was the second straight losing season for the Bearcats as they struggled in the opening weeks. After starting the season 1-4, it seemed as though the team was bound for another forgettable year. Despite the slow start, the ‘Cats won three straight games which included wins against rival Snohomish and an overtime thriller at Mount Vernon. The Bearcats matched Lake Stevens’ conference record but a loss to the Vikings early in the season cost Monroe a chance at a WESCO title. After going 3-1 in their last four games of the regular season, the Bearcats met Camas in the qualifying playoff round and suffered a 55-20 defeat. The end of the season also marked the end of the Coach Abrams-era for the program.
